Robert John Zastryzny (pronounced za-STRIZ-knee)...Is a 2010 graduate of Calallen (TX) High School before attending the University of Missouri....Was born in Edmonton, Canada, before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas....Was homeschooled until sixth grade, learning Canadian history, geography and government....Was nicknamed Friday because he pitched on Friday nights for three seasons in college at the University of Missouri.

Spent a majority of the season at the Triple-A level between Syracuse (New York - NL) and Salt Lake (Los Angeles – AL)…Went a combined 1-5 with one save, a 3.42 ERA (55.1ip/21er) and 68 strikeouts in 34 appearances (six starts) at the Triple-A level…Began the season in Syracuse’s bullpen before making six of his next eight appearances as a member of the starting rotation from 4/20 to 5/29…Was on the seven-day injured list from 5/30 to 6/17…Had his contract selected by New York on 8/20…Allowed one run in 1.0 inning in his Mets debut in game two of a doubleheader on 8/20 at Philadelphia… Was optioned back to Syracuse on 8/21 and designated for assignment on 8/22…Was claimed off waivers by Los Angeles on 8/25 and optioned to Triple-A…Was charged with two runs in 1.0 inning in his first outing with Salt Lake before not allowing a run in his final seven appearances (7.0ip)…Was recalled by Los Angeles on 9/20 and charged with three runs (2er) while not retiring any of the three batters he faced in his Angels debut on 9/21 at Texas… Tossed a combined 3.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit in his final three outings.

Signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a minor league free agent on 3/26...Split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, making a combined 19 starts (23 appearances) and posting a 5.58 ERA (70 ER/113.0 IP) with 104 strikeouts...His 19 starts were his most in a season since he made 23 starts in 2016 (Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa)...Struck out a season-high 10 batters on 5/4 at New Orleans...Elected free agency on 11/4 and signed with the Orioles as a minor league free agent on 11/18.

Spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Iowa, pitching exclusively out of the bullpen, making 33 appearances (one start) going 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA (24 ER/56.0 IP)...Had three different stints with the Cubs...Went 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA (3 ER/5.2 IP) in six outings for Chicago-NL...Placed on the disabled list on 6/24 with back spasms and was reinstated on 7/5.

In his second season in the Cubs organization, Rob went 4-6 with a 4.66 ERA (57 ER/110.0 IP) in 23 starts with Single-A Daytona ... struck out 110 batters, the fourth-highest total in the Cubs system ... Went 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA (23 ER/62.1 IP) in 12 starts after the All-Star Break, compared to 1-5 with a 6.42 ERA (34 ER/47.2 IP) in 11 starts prior to the Break ... allowed seven fewer hits in the second half despite pitching 14.2 more innings ...
